The Coronavirus is rapidly spreading across continents and the alarming statistics of death and quarantined patients have deposited some particles of fear in some people. Africa is increasingly affected by the new coronavirus.

Stright from the World Health Organization and few other health agencies some basic protective measures against the new coronavirus have been recommended.

In this article which will be looking out for some of the best basic ways to protect yourself and loved ones from the plague of this fast-spreading virus.

1. Washing your hands frequently 

Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water or you can also use hand sanitizer.

2. Maintain social distancing

When in the crowd or social gathering, maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth without washing it.

The reason is that your hands has touched many surfaces and probably have picked up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, possible virus can enter your body and can make you sick.

It goes without saying that when you need to sneeze, sneeze into a tissue, and then discard it sanitarily. If tissues are not at hand, sneeze into your elbow, and then use surgical masks which help to not only prevent you from spreading a virus but also protects you from getting one yourself.

Drink plenty of clean water, and don’t eat raw food, especially meat till the spread of the virus has died down. Increasing your water and fluid intake can keep viruses at bay. Dry throats make it easier for viruses to attack.

9. Avoided crowded areas

As much as possible avoid parties, crowded religious, ceremonial and official gathering, especially in areas with confirmed cases, also take additional measures to protect babies and children.
