The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has listed 11 different local Ghanaian foods that can help citizens in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the president, 11 Ghanaian foods namely oranges, kontomire (Tarot leaves), millet, cashew, crab, plantain, okra, dawadawa, brown rice, and mushrooms; are very useful in the fight against COVID-19.
According to President Nana Akufo-Addo, he explained that these foods contain vitamins A, B6, C and E which have been shown to be very useful in helping to strengthen the immune system against disease.
Many Ghanaians must have thought that they would need sophisticated drugs to keep their bodies strong against disease, especially the new coronavirus. The President’s list, however, shows that with the least resources, Ghanaians in all walks of life can protect themselves effectively because the foods listed are fairly easy to find.
Ghana has currently recorded more than 4,700 positive cases of the new coronavirus with 22 deaths.
